Essay #1

Hi Guys,

I know that you all just got the outline for the first essay. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask here, or to make an appointment to meet with either Alex or myself. Just in case anyone has lost their outline or can't retrieve it from their email, I have posted the full assignment at the bottom of the blog.

    Amy it was not handed out it should be in your email. If it was not sent correctly we can get you a copy in class.

    Quick question about the essay...for the third question, would I have to include all 5 biomedical models or can I just focus on 2?

    hi mere,

    I would recommend that you discuss the five bio-medical assumptions in your essay... we are looking for an understanding of the material as well as how you feel about the information presented. If you find that two of the assumptions are more closely related to your own future work, then i would suggest that you develop this further in your essay.

    I know this may be a silly question, but could number three be applied to the counseling field? I know its not entirely considered a healthcare practitioner, but its in the healthcare field...

    Cassie...
    that's not a silly question at all. Counseling may potentially be the future of healthcare. Education and guidance is the foundation of preventative maintenance. In a future where de-privatized healthcare is quite likely, a counselor will serve the much needed purpose of creating and implementing programs that will ultimately improve quality of life and decrease health spending. In terms of biomedicine and the assignment, just focus on how what you have learned may affect your approach to counseling. Would it differ from the currently accepted biomedical model??
